Recently, I was lucky enough to be contacted by the wonderful people at Brick Central, asking if I would like to produce a series of images for an (at the time) un-launched LEGO Star Wars set. The brief was to create a series of images to show the set in its full glory. They would then be assessed by the team at LEGO and hopefully used on the various LEGO social media channels. Of course I said yes and once paperwork was signed I sat patiently waiting for the delivery person to arrive…
The set arrived and it was the UCS Republic Gunship, also known as a Low Altitude Assault Transport. It was big set, sitting at just under 3300 pieces and a wing span of 74cm this iconic ship appeared in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and the Clone Wars series. My choice of backdrops for this ship were the harsh rocky desert planet, Geonosis and Pantora, the primary moon orbiting Orto Plutonia.
As it was such a big build I was going to need an equally sized set to shoot it on. Geononis would need plenty of sand and lots of baking powder for Pantora. I did receive some strange looks at my local Aldi buying the later! The Pantora rock formations were created using polystyrene sheets cut to shape, covered in plaster and finished with a lick of paint.
I'm incredibly happy with the finished results and also to see them posted on LEGO social media channels, thanks again to Brick Central.
